Focus and Scope

Ensaios e Ciência: Ciências Biológicas, Agrárias e da Saúde (ISSN 2178-695X / 1415-6938) is intended for the publication of original research articles, reviews, and experience/case reports in the areas of agricultural sciences, animal science, environmental sciences, and biological sciences. It adopts a rolling pass publication system and provides public access to all its content, following the principle that making research freely available generates greater global exchange of knowledge.

Manuscripts submitted to the Ensaios e Ciência must comply with its editorial policy, instructions to authors, and author guidelines. Submissions are accepted in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, but after acceptance, they will only be published in English, after submission of a language review certificate and and payment of the publication fee (200 BRL).

The evaluation process is peer review, composed of two reviewers (if necessary, a third for tie-breaking), who are assigned according to the theme and focus of the article. It is important to note that the anonymity of authors and reviewers is preserved. Details of the peer review policy can be found on the Editorial Policies page.

Mission

The journal's mission is to publish and disseminate knowledge produced in the areas of agricultural sciences and animal science, environmental sciences, and biological sciences with excellence and respect for ethical principles. Articles that contribute to the advancement of knowledge, are original, have scientific consistency, respect ethical standards, are current, and relevant to the field will be considered for publication. It is a Brazilian journal, affiliated with the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors – ABEC. It is available in several indexing databases and portals.

Peer Review Process

Articles are evaluated by external ad-doc consultants in the research area of ​​knowledge, from national and foreign educational and/or research institutions, with proven scientific production. After due corrections and possible suggestions, the article is accepted if it has two favorable reviews and is rejected if two reviews are unfavorable. In the case of one favorable and one unfavorable opinion, the article may be forwarded to a third consultant and/or to the Editorial Board.

Open Access Policy

This journal offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater global democratization of knowledge.

APCs (ARTICLE PROCESSING FEE) 

The APC for Publication is R$ 200,00 and will only be requested if the article is “Accepted” for publication.

Digital Preservation

The journal Ensaios e Ciência adopts formal digital preservation policies to ensure continuous and secure access to its scientific content over time.

Currently, the journal is:
• Included in the Keepers Registry, an international system that monitors the preservation of digital journals, ensuring that their contents are archived by reliable institutions.
• Preserved by the Cariniana Network, coordinated by the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (Ibict), which uses LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) technology to maintain multiple secure copies of published articles.

These initiatives guarantee the integrity, authenticity, and longevity of the journal's digital collection, even in the face of technical failures or institutional changes.

Publication of the manuscript will depend on compliance with the guidelines and review by the Editorial Board, which has full authority to decide on its acceptance and may even suggest changes to the authors.

AI Use Policy – ​​Intersaberes Journal (2026)


All submissions to the Essays and Science Journal must respect the principles of academic integrity and responsibility described herein.
In cases where AI tools are used in the construction of the article, the principle of transparency must be strictly observed. Responsibility for the results presented remains entirely with the authors of the submitted article.

General Criteria:
1. Authorship: Full and exclusive responsibility for the published works rests with the human authors. Works in which authorship is shared, to any extent, with AI tools will not be accepted.

2. AI Tools Used in Research Stages: In data collection, systematization, and analysis activities, the use of AI tools is considered legitimate. To this end, the text must precisely detail which tools were used, how, and from which commands. Similarly, the production of graphs or illustrative images may be done with the support of AI tools.

3. Text Translation and Revision: The use of AI tools as a support instrument for text revision and translation activities is considered legitimate. The final responsibility for the text remains with the authors.

4. Declaration of Use of AI Tools: Whenever any AI tool has been used at any stage of the article's preparation process, as well as in the research process that resulted in the article now submitted, the authors must complete a declaration clarifying the use of AI tools, which will be included at the end of the text, in the following terms:

“During the production process of this article, specifically in the stage(s) of..... the tool ..... was used for the purpose of ..... . After using the tool, the authors reviewed and edited the results, being entirely responsible for the content presented here.”

5. Use of AI in the Peer Review Stage: The use of AI tools for the peer review task is prohibited.
