Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and it is not under review for publication in another journal; otherwise, a justification must be provided in "Comments to the Editor."
  • The material is correctly formatted, and two files must be submitted: one described as the cover page, including the names of all authors, their highest academic degree, affiliation, email address, ORCID, and contribution to the work; and the manuscript file without authorship information.
  • Articles from the year 2025 onwards should preferably be written in English. However, all manuscripts must include the title (english and portuguese), abstract (english and portuguese), and keywords in both languages.
  • The initial submission must include the files "Cover Page" and "Manuscript." All author details must be entered during the submission process using the "Add Author" button. It is essential to include the ORCID of ALL AUTHORS
  • Submission files must be in Microsoft Word format (*.doc or *.docx).
  • The text must be 1.5-spaced, use 12-point Arial font, employ italics instead of underlining (except for URLs), and include figures and tables within the text.
  • Figures and tables must be inserted in the text along with their respective captions at the appropriate location. Tables must be in an editable format.
  • References must follow the ABNT NBR 10520:2023 standard. The DOI of references must be provided when available.
  • All submissions are subject to peer review, and the instructions in "Ensuring Blind Peer Review" must be followed.
  • The text adheres to the style and bibliographic requirements as described in the "Author Guidelines" (below) and "Frequently Asked Questions" (top right corner of this page).
  • All studies involving humans (directly or indirectly) or animals must provide the research ethics committee approval protocol number.
  • Manuscripts that pass the initial screening for relevance to the journal's focus and scope, as well as formatting compliance, will undergo an originality and similarity check using an anti-plagiarism system.
  • In the "COMMENTS TO THE EDITOR" field, authors must indicate three potential Ph.D. reviewers for the manuscript, including their NAME, INSTITUTION, and EMAIL.

Author Guidelines

                                                          INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

1. Article Submission Procedures: Submitted articles must be original, meaning they must not have been published in another journal or collection in the country. The acceptance process will follow these steps:

  • First Stage: Selection of articles based on relevance, compliance with editorial guidelines, and adherence to the journal's standards.
  • Second Stage: Evaluation by at least two anonymous “ad hoc” reviewers, meaning reviewers and authors will not know each other's identities. If the reviews are inconclusive or conflicting, the article will be sent to additional reviewers. Final acceptance is the responsibility of the Editorial Board.

1.1 Languages: Since 2025, priority will be given to manuscripts written in English.

1.2 Submissions must be made through the Portal of Cogna at: https://ensaioseciencia.pgsscogna.com.br/ensaioeciencia/about/submissions

Original and relevant articles with a maximum of 25 pages including figures, tables and bibliographic references.

They must include: Title (Portuguese or Spanish and English); Abstract; Keywords; Introduction; Development (including search and selection procedures for reviewed articles); Conclusion; and References.
